Quarterly Newsletter: June 2018

Dear Archers,

July is membership renewal month. This newsletter provides you with our 2018/19 member application forms and information.  All membership forms should be returned to the club by July 31st. The new gate code will be shared with members after the registration period is complete in September. The membership fee is $120, ($10/mo). The member application form has been updated with a few changes, and is now two sided. The front has the new application form and the back has the club waiver, both sides must be filled out and signed, (insurance/county requirement). All members including lifetime members must fill out the member application form and waiver. We have added a signoff that states that you will comply with the current rules and regulations, and will also comply with the policies and procedures of Lee County Archers Inc. These are posted on the bulletin board at the clubhouse for all members to reference. Another clarification on the member application form is for nametags. If you have a current nametag that has your name permanently engraved on the tag there is no change. If you have a temporary tag with your name written in pen we would like to give you an engraved tag. Please respond to this question on the member application form so that we can order you a new tag. New members who signup, was a few months ahead, of the normal July signup please fill out all paperwork and note your application that you have already paid for 2018/19. Michelle will confirm your membership with our membership list. Also on the application please fill out your email address and any special skills the club could use. We are always in need of electricians, carpenters, computer skills and just good workers.

The club effort after the hurricane was amazing. The club has bounced back better than before. Thank you!! We have purchased a new mower which has really helped with mow time and maintenance. The mowing time has been cut in half. Club improvements included another building addition on the shed for the 900 targets, new lights in the pavilion and 20 yard range, new flag with a solar light, new pavilion floor, 10 new 3d animals plus additional inserts, continued target butt replacement We have completely reworked our website with a new operating platform which will allow us to maintain the information more easily. The old system was outdated and did not work properly. It has many new features which we all have been looking for. The side menu tab allows you to get at all club information. Scores, schedule, forms, bylaws, interactive map to the club, a contact button which allows visitors to email me question (averages 2 or 3 a day) and pictures. I have had positive and negative comments. You really need to look at it and become familiar with what it provides. We still need face book for the quick notifications. To give the club what some people want, a quick everyday update on activities and scores we need a person devoted to the site any volunteers?

We are officially an ASA club. We had our first shoot February 17th and it was a success. The club received many positive compliments. Our club members and visitors were pleased with the shoot. Our club is now affiliated with NFAA, FAA and ASA. I tried to get the state 3D but it did not work out this year, many clubs are competing for the state 3d. Push Tim A. when you see him. The First Responder Games were held at our club on June 4 & 5. Small turnout but everyone enjoyed our club. We donated the proceeds $300 back to the first responder organization for their survivor fund. The Senior Games were held February 3rd.

The water retention project design and approval has been completed but the schedule is still uncertain.

It is great to see many LCA archers attending our state shoots. Our archers have won many events throughout the season, Congratulations to everyone! See the FAA publication and our website for results and standings. Our Club continues to grow and improve thanks to the effort and hard work of our volunteers and board. It’s easy to say I don’t have any time but these members find a way and I greatly appreciate their time. I personally want to thank each of you. Without your help and dedication we would not have this great facility.
