June 2017 newsletter

July is membership renewal month.  This newsletter provides you with our 2017/18 member application forms and information. All membership forms should be returned to the club by July 31st.

The new gate code will be shared with members after the registration period is complete in September. The membership fee is $120, ($10/mo). The member application form has been updated with a few changes, and is now two sided. The front has the new application form and the back has the club waiver, both sides need to be filled out and signed. All members including lifetime members must fill out the member application form and waiver. We have added a signoff that states that you will comply with the current rules and regulations, and will also comply with the policies and procedures of Lee County Archers Inc. These are posted on the bulletin board at the clubhouse for all members to reference.  Another clarification on the member application form is for nametags. If you have a current nametag that has your name permanently engraved on the tag there is no change. If you have a temporary tag with your name written in pen we would like to give you an engraved tag. Please respond to this question on the member application form so that we can order you a new tag. New members who signup was a few months ahead of the normal July signup please fill out all paperwork and note your application that you have already paid for 2017/18. Michelle will confirm your membership with our membership list. Also on the application please fill out your email address and any special skills the club could use. We are always in need of electricians, carpenters, computer skills and just good workers.

We have had additional meetings with the County on the water project out front. The project is scheduled to start this December and run for 6 months into June 2018. We have planed meetings with the contractor and County to discuss access and safety. I will forward more detail when I receive it.

It is great to see many LCA archers attending our state shoots. Our archers have won many events throughout the season, Congratulations to everyone!  See the FAA publication and our website for results and standings.

We lost a good friend a few months back, George Birmingham passed away in March. We will always remember his big smile, his enjoyment in coming out to the club and his sweets he brought out on Thursdays.
Lee and Jill Schiferl moved to Charlotte, NC. Dan Keyser moved to North Carolina as well. I want to thank them for their many years of service to our club.

The fire danger this year was unbelievable; one lightning strike could cost us dearly. Please do not park in the tall grass when things are very dry.

The Club had its first ASA 3D practice shoot in May. The shoot was an attempt to expand our shooting venue and attendance. We need your input good or bad so that we may assess the decision if we want to become an NFAA & ASA club. When we have a sanctioned shoot we must follow all the ASA rules including all the classes to the letter. We can alter the classes to fit our club for a club ASA shoot if we see fit. The archers that I talked to enjoyed the set up and lunch. Nathan Sprague an ASA officer volunteered his time traveling to LCA in order to help us better understand the ASA format.

Our Club continues to grow and improve thanks to the effort and hard work of our volunteers and board. It’s easy to say I don’t have any time but these members find a way and I greatly appreciate their time. I personally want to thank each of you. Without your help and dedication we would not have this great facility.

Have fun and be safe.
