August 2017  Newsletter

Dear Archers,

This letter is to confirm your 2017/2018 membership in the Lee County Archers, Inc. This membership allows you and your family to enjoy the tremendous benefits of this club and facility. With your membership there is a responsibility to keep everyone safe. Please pay attention to our rules and regulations.

Gate code included in your mailing. The locks will be changed on Saturday Sept 9th. Do not pass out this number to non members. This has become a problem. We will be checking for name tags as well as I will post a current membership list in the pavilion with only currently paid members listed.

The registration and signup process takes a lot of work. The club roster is maintained by our secretary Michelle. Starting over with everyone new is a daunting task. Address changes emails and personal info is changing constantly. Our records must be kept current or you will not receive your mailings or gate codes. We have northern and southern address’s dependent on time of year. We send letters to Canada and Europe as well. The mailings and registration take about 80 hours a year of Michelle and my time.

Michelle will be ordering new name tags for our new members who have indicated on their application that they need a permanent tag. They will be ordered in September. If you miss the cut off you will have to keep your temporary tag till next year.

Our old standby lawnmower has finally bit the dust. The heavy use over the last 12 years has caught up with the mower. We had several board members out looking for a new mower. We ended up at five different shops and had 12 different mowers designs and prices to look at. We decided to go with a zero turn which will cut our mowing time in half. Normally it takes about 5 to 6 hours a week to mow the club.

Don’t forget NAFAC, December 8 to 10 in Everglades. Shoot Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Book your room early.

Please welcome our new members and guests. Please include them in your shooting groups. This will help them better learn and understand our range and feel part of the club. Visitor’s first impressions are very important. There are many young children and mothers remember no profanity. Let’s keep the range and pavilion area looking professional and clean, this is not a storage area. This is not nit picking I have heard comments on each of these topics.

We are in the process of filing the paperwork to become an NFAA/ASA club. This should be finalized by the first of the year.

Have fun and be safe.
